Maintenance

At the instruction of the owner of the ventilation system, the function of the fire damper must be checked at least every six months in accordance with the requirements of VDI 2052, taking into account the basic maintenance measures in accordance with DIN EN 13306 in conjunction with DIN 31051. If two consecutive tests at intervals of 6 months do not reveal any functional defects, the fire damper only needs to be checked once a year.
In general, closing and reopening is sufficient, with spring return actuator also remotely operated or by means of a voltage interruption
Fire dampers must be included in the regular cleaning schedule for the ventilation and air-conditioning system. For details on maintenance and inspection, please refer to the installation and operating manual

Functional description
Type KA2-EU fire dampers close off extract air and exhaust air ducts in commercial kitchens and prevent the spread of fire and smoke via air ducts into adjacent fire compartments. In standard operation, the fire damper is in the Open position. This is made possible by the electrically operated spring return actuator, which enables the motorised opening of fire damper. The spring return actuator also enables the fire damper to be activated by the management and control equipment (MCE) during maintenance work and functional checks.
In the event of a fire, one of the two thermoelectric release units is triggered. From a trigger temperature of 72 °C, the damper blade closes the fire damper within 3 seconds. In addition, an interruption in the supply voltage also causes the fire damper to close. The closing process is based on the fail-safe principle. The control system of the spring return actuator differentiates between a fire and other interruptions.
The limit switch signal can also be used to close other KA2-EU units. The signal on leaving the Open end position can be used to switch off the supply voltage to other fire dampers. Fire dampers that are further away from the fire then close within 10 seconds. TROXNETCOM offers further solutions. Limit switches can be used for position indication. When leaving the Open position, the signal from the Open limit switch must be used to switch off the fan.

Rectangular fire dampers in accordance with the European product standard DIN EN 15650 for supply and extract air systems in ventilation and air-conditioning installations, with additional National Technical Approval. Suitable for shutting off extract and exhaust air ducts in commercial kitchens, with a fire resistance rating of 90 minutes. Reliable closing even with existing deposits, thanks to a

maintenance-free spring-return actuator. Tested for fire protection properties in accordance with EN 1366-2. Airtight casing complying with leakage class B according to EN 1751, with thermal release at 72 °C, made of galvanised sheet steel or optionally stainless steel; airflow-independent design. Shut-off damper blade made of special insulating material, metal-clad, airtight sealing. With 2 compact thermal release devices 72 °C, 2 electrical limit switches to indicate damper position CLOSED or OPEN, fan switch-off, and integration into the MCE. Control and connection casing with plug/socket connection integrated into the spring-return actuator. Designed for 10000 cycles and a closing time of 3 s in the event of fire and 10 s in ventilation mode. Suitable for mortar-based and dry installation in solid walls or ceilings, shaft walls with metal studs, lightweight partition walls with metal or timber studs, and for connection to horizontal and vertical air ducts with a connecting flange.
